Some Further Thoughts on THE LAW

The message on August 10, 2025 was “Some More Thoughts on THE LAW” as Wayne referenced the previous study on Law and Grace. Are we under THE LAW of Moses? Under grace, we are not lawless! There seems to be confusion after one is saved as to what doctrine we follow from scripture. Romans does a great job explaining how we are all saved by grace and it was written by the Apostle Paul at the end of the Acts period. In Eph. 6:2-3 KJV it says “2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” This may have some from the Old Testament in Exod. 20:12 KJV “12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” PAul wrote this post-Acts when he received The Mystery. If you continue reading in Exodus 21:15,17 it is really harsh “15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death; 17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.” Why didn’t PAul bring this over? It is explained in Ephesians 2:13-15 KJV “13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;”. We have learned that we are NOT under the law of Moses BUT we are under the law of messiah and His commands are given to us through Paul the prisoner. We learned of the Law of Christ. In the Acts Period, there was a Body of Christ, with Members by part. Objective: Married. Fellowship: Communion (New Covenant). In The Mystery, there is The Body of Christ, Members one of another, Christ is the head. Objective: New Man. Fellowship: Mystery. We are under the Law of Messiah. Col. 2:6, 8, 16, 18; 3:1-2, 5, 8-9, 12, 15-16, 18-23; 4:1-2, 5, 10, 15-18 (Imperatives!! These are also to be divided see last 4 verses).

The scripture reading was from Romans 7:1-6 KJV “1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. 4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. 6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”
