Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Tel Aviv to protest the Israeli government's plan to escalate the war in Gaza.

Organizers say more than a hundred thousand turned out for the rally. It was the first since Israel's security cabinet approved plans to occupy Gaza City. Critics fear another escalation of the 22-month war will further jeopardize the likelihood that the 50 remaining hostages in Gaza, both living and dead, will ever be brought back to Israel.
