Why Can't The Left Meme?

In reality, the ability to meme isn't inherent to one camp of politics. What actually matters in the creation of a successful meme, is that it is able to easily represent some more complicated idea from the wider cultural canon, in a short, repeatable, and funny way. Memes aren't required to be true, to be popular - in fact, there's an entire subsection of memes that are explicitly false, in order to highlight something funny. And that's the key. Insofar as a position is more false, it is more memetic, because making fun of it is funnier. This is why, for a long time, the most popular memes made fun of the left, and why the next era of memes will make fun of the right: they're popular because they're funny, and they're funny because what they're making fun of, is factually incorrect.
