Father Bear's Special Day

Written by Else Holmelund Minarik and illustrated by Teri Lee.

The story centers on Little Bear, who is excited to spend Father's Day with his father, Father Bear, and wants to be his special helper for the entire day.

The plan is for a perfect fishing trip together, but their plans are disrupted when Father Bear's friends, Emily and Duck, join them along the way.

As Father Bear happily interacts with his friends and they help with tasks like getting worms and baiting the hook, Little Bear feels left out and begins to feel like a failure.

The story explores themes of jealousy and the importance of a child's unique value to their parent. In the end, Father Bear reassures Little Bear that he is loved and that the most special gift of all is simply being his son, which brings them both great joy.
