Clearing Our Name: The Truth They Didn’t Want to Hear

We were accused of lying, stealing, abusing church and community resources—of faking medical bills, inflating our cost of living, and even pretending our children’s disabilities weren’t real. We were told to sell everything in our home. The president of the elder quorum and wife said that if we could afford someone to mow our lawn and provide horse therapy for our kids, then we could “get off our lazy ass” and pay the church back. We were pressured to install surveillance cameras in our own home, forced to go without basic needs, and even told to get rid of our children’s vital medical equipment. We were told to stop using text-to-speech and other communication devices. Our kids’ medical needs were belittled and compared to their own children’s as if they didn’t matter. None of it was true. These false claims and cruel demands spread like wildfire, hurting our family and shaking our faith. Now, we’re telling our side of the story—the truth they never expected us to share.
