The Witch of Yazoo: Did She Curse the City?

In 1904, a massive fire destroyed much of Yazoo City, Mississippi—and some believe it was the work of a vengeful witch who cursed the town with her dying breath. But how much of this legend is true? In this episode of Midwest Ghost Hunters, we dig into the eerie tale of the Witch of Yazoo, the chained grave in Glenwood Cemetery, and the paranormal claims that continue to haunt the area.

While some parts of the story are based in fact—including the fire that began in the home of Pauline Wise—others may be rooted more in folklore than reality. Much of the story as we know it today was brought to life in the book Good Old Boy by Yazoo native Willie Morris, blending history, memory, and myth into one unforgettable tale.

🕯️ Do you think the curse was real, or just a Southern ghost story gone wild? Let us know in the comments.
