The Bible speaks of the moon turning to blood in several prophetic passages, all tied to divine judgment and the Day of the Lord. The prophet Joel declares that before this great and terrible day, the sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood. This is not merely a natural eclipse but a divine sign warning of imminent judgment and calling people to repentance.

Peter repeats this prophecy in Acts, linking it to the return of the Lord and the shaking of heaven and earth. In Revelation, when the sixth seal is opened, John sees a great earthquake, the sun turns black, and the whole moon becomes like blood. This terrifies the nations as they realize the wrath of the Lamb has come.

Jesus also warns in the Gospels that after the tribulation the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give light, and the powers of heaven will be shaken. The biblical blood moon is more than an astronomical event; it is a divinely timed sign that prophecy is unfolding and the final moments before His return are near.
