THE FIG TREE GENERATION
The Final Generation!

Throughout the Bible, God has compared the nation of Israel to a Fig Tree.

Hosea 9:10 KJV — I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

In Jeremiah Ch. 24, God compares the evil people of Judah to a rotten basket of evil figs, and the good people of Judah to a good basket of ripe figs.

Jeremiah 24:2-6 KJV - One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad. [3] Then said the Lord unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. [4] Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, [5] Thus saith the Lord , the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. [6] For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

Israel is also symbolized as a fig tree in Joel:

Joel 1:6-7 KJV - For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. [7] He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

When Jesus was doing His ministry, He warned the people of Israel that unless they repent they will all perish. He then tells them a parable concerning a fig tree:

Luke 13:6-9 KJV — He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Jesus began His ministry at age 30 (Luke 3:23), and his ministry appears to have lasted for 3.5 years until He was crucified and rose again. This means that Christ was most likely the the man who had a Fig Tree planted in His vineyard, which represents the nation of Israel, and He came searching for fruit for 3 years but found none.

In Mark Chapter 11, as Yeshua Jesus went into Jerusalem, He saw that the Fig Tree had no fruit and therefore He cursed it and it withered away.

Mark 11:13-22 NKJV — And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it. So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ” And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His teaching. When evening had come, He went out of the city. Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God."

Jesus knew His Fig Tree (Israel) was spoiled by the hypocrite Pharisees, like lifeless branches without any fruit. He knew the Jews would not accept Him as the Messiah. Therefore, Jesus cursed the fig tree and it withered away. This was alluding to the destruction of Israel in 70 AD for they did not receive the New Covenant and instead they crucified their own Messiah (Daniel 9:26).

Yet the times of the Figs will come in these last days, as Romans 11 and Zecheriah 12-13 says a remnant of Israel will receive their Messiah after the fullness of the Gentiles. I believe this will be in Daniel's 70th Week, which is soon to begin (see Daniel 9:27)!

In his speech on the Mount of Olives, Jesus tells us what signs to look for in regards to His Second Coming and the end of the age.

Matthew 24:3 KJV - And as he (Jesus/Yeshua) sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus/Yeshua (being God in the flesh) then speaks of the fig tree blooming as being a sign of the Final Generation that will see His return:

Matthew 24:32-36 KJV — Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

There has always been wars and rumors of war, and plagues, and famines, but now after nearly 2000 years of being destroyed as a nation, Israel was replanted in the land in 1948.

This prophecy from Ezekiel appears to speak of this modern day regathering:

Ezekiel 36:6-8 KJV — Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame. But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.

Israel being reestablish as a nation means Daniel's 70th Week is soon to begin and so is the appearing of the AntiChrist and the emergence of the satanic One World Order. Afterwards the Messiah Yeshua Jesus will return from Heaven to earth for the Battle of Armageddon and He will save a remnant of Israel and rule from Jerusalem (see Zechariah 14, Revelation 19, Daniel 7).

The end of the Fig Tree Generation will bring about the worst time of tribulation that the world has ever known, or will know, and at the end of it the LORD Yeshua Jesus will return from Heaven to establish His Millennial Kingdom in Jerusalem:

Matthew 24:29-51 KJV — Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
