Things Left Unsaid (Rest in Peace, Stephanie)

For those of you who hadn't heard, my sister, Stephanie, passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago, so that's why we haven't streamed in a while.

I wrote this song as a sort of catharsis. Let me clarify that I'm *not* a singer, and I just used the raw recording sitting in front of the mic, so the quality isn't great. Just wanted to get it out there though. I've been writing songs since I was 12, but I've never shared them publicly.

But I wanted to share this one because I know this has been a big year of loss for a lot of people, or just a generally difficult year. I thought maybe it could help others, too.

Things Left Unsaid

Life comes and goes
And no one knows
If this will be your last day
So hold your loved ones close

You run out of time
You can't hit rewind
And you don't know if things
Will ever be fine / again

She left too soon
And I don't know what to do / now
You left too soon
And I don't know what to do / now

~Chorus~
So many things
That were left unsaid
How do we move on
Without closure ahead?

We lost out
On what could have been
I'm sorry
We'll never get that chance again
~/Chorus~

All of us left behind
We try to find
A way to cope
But sometimes it's hard
Not to lose hope

Riddled with emotions
Feelings of devotion
Anger, sadness, and remorse
And there's no recourse

Can I numb the pain?
Make it all feel the same / again?

There is no way
To feel okay again

*Chorus*

It feels like the light
Of a star in the sky
Flickered out in the darkness
In the blink of an eye

Memories we hold
Of a beautiful soul
Written out of the plot
Before the story unfolds

Is it not what it seems?
Could it all be a dream?
Wake me up from this nightmare
Taking hold of me

This is my new reality

*Chorus*

Life comes and goes
And no one knows
If this will be your last day
So hold your loved ones close

You run out of time
You can't hit rewind
And you don't know if things
Will ever be fine / again

She left too soon
And I don't know what to do / now
You left too soon
And I don't know what to do / now

You left too soon
And I don't have a clue / now
You left too soon
And everything feels doomed / now
