Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Episode Final: Adieu (Act 3 Ending)

I barely held it in for the end of Persona 3 Reload, but not here; first time I outright cried on stream. This was quite possibly the hardest decision I've made in a video game, much harder that Persona 5 Royal; though, if I had been paying more attention and had all the information I do now, it would have still hurt, but would have been easier to come to the same conclusion (I recorded an addendum after this episode on why this ending is equally as reasonable as the other when all evidence is considered, and how I'd progress a sequel if I were writing it). This is in between Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time and Persona 5 Royal in its nature of the world and how it influences how you see the ending, which is why I spent so long on it; I dwelled on details; characters that are alive enough to function independent and even against their creators; what the canvas means in a universe where you could live in one like it's the movie Inception for a lifetime and come out with just the flu for a couple days; what that would do to a mind that artificially extends its existence for hundreds of years; whether or not Alicia is better served processing her grief the way Aline was prevented from by Renoir; whether or not Verso gets what he wants more depending on the ending.

Absolute masterpiece. Whether or not it unseats Star Ocean: The Second Story as my favorite of all time is something I'll have to come back to in 5 years or so. I try to avoid making decisions based solely on what I'm looking at at the moment, which is why I compare "Une Vie A T'Amier" to "Dancing Mad", but don't say it's one of the top 5 video game songs of all time. I feel it's at the top right now, but I need to commit to that decision upon reflection, rather than so soon thereafter that I don't even have the strength to pick the game back up yet.

Enjoy my blood for the blood god rant against Ubisoft over the credits roll. (¬‿¬)

Yet another seven minute rant about how amazing "Une Vie A T'Amier" and the rest of Lorien Testard's work here for ⁨@sandfallgames⁩ at the end; we will be watching your career with great interest.

It's been a month and a half; my heart is still heavy.
