📖 Hosea 12:5–8 (KJV):
“Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial. Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually... And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.”

Ephraim (representing Israel) became proud of his success.
He mistook wealth as proof that he was right with God. But God wasn’t impressed — He saw the self-deception and pride.
This passage reminds us: Prosperity isn’t always a sign of God’s favor.
We can be rich in things but poor in spirit.
God calls us to return to Him, walk in mercy, justice, and wait continually on Him.

Riches can lie. God never does.
