1 Samuel 31:1-2 Samuel 1:27, How the Mighty Have Fallen!

The Philistines defeat the Israelites on Mount Gilboa, slaying Saul and his three sons, as prophesied the day before through the medium at En-Dor. “So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance” (1 Chronicles 10:13 NKJV). David mourns the death of Saul and Jonathan, quoting a lament from the book of Jasher, “The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen” (1 Samuel 31:19 NKJV)!
On this Communion Sunday, as we reflect on how the mighty have fallen in battle while defending their countries against their enemies, Pastor Kevin reminds us Jesus gave His life to save us from Satan, the enemy of our souls.
