Give Thyself Wholly
For Maximum Profit
Text: 1Timothy 4:13-16

Objective: that we may give all of ourselves, and all we have to God and His work

to get the young people to a good start in serving the Lord early

Intro:

Read the chapter - spc. vv. 13-16
Who wants to be rich? more profit, more riches
Spiritually must be the focus - v. 8
wholly - adv. To a complete degree or to the full or entire extent
all, altogether, completely, entirely, totally
give - "Transfer possession of something concrete or abstract to somebody"

What and How should we give ourselves (to)
1. Into the Ministry - v.6 - 'good minister'

that ministry includes warning others of false prophets - vv. 1-5
being 'nourished' will greatly help

2. Into Godliness - vv.7 - 8 - 'prioritize over other things'

profit promised - life on earth and on heaven

3. To the Living God - the Lord - v. 10 - 'trust in Him'

do this even we have to work hard (labour) and suffer reproach as a result

4. To the Gifts of God - v. 14 - 'perfect, hone, improve'

through the Word of God - read, teach, hear, communicate, meditate, taking heed, preserve testimony and integrity of the doctrine received from the Lord.

5. To the Word of God - vv. 13, 16 - doctrine - 'continue learning'

Message/conclusion:

The Lord has the best plans for us.
Let us therefore give ourselves to Him and His work.
And for maximum profit, let us give all and early!
