Honda’s Ashirase Inc. has developed a navigation system to assist visually impaired individuals. Wataru Chino, the founder of Ashirase, created the system after a family member was involved in an accident. The navigation system consists of two parts: a mobile app and a vibrating wearable device. Both parts are connected via Bluetooth. The device delivers vibrations to guide the user. Front vibrations indicate moving forward, while right and left vibrations signal turns. When both feet vibrate, this prompts the user to stop. The Ashirase system currently retails for 54,000 yen (around $355) and is sold in Japan. What do you think of this technology?
