An Extinct Set of Standards - BR Standard Class 6 "Clans"

Dia dhuit! :D

This week, we take a look at by far the rarest of the mainstream production BR Standard Class locomotives of the 1950s (with the exception of the unique 71000 Duke of Gloucester), and one that was sadly rendered extinct during the mid-1960s when all 10 members of its fleet were cut up, the BR Standard Class 6, also known as the Clan Class due to their naming convention, often being considered a failure during their working lives due to the mixed receptions of engine crews.

In truth, the Clans were exceptionally powerful and versatile machines that could easily match the larger Britannia Pacifics under certain circumstances, and proved their worth immeasurably on the winding Highland routes of western Scotland, with regular engine crews and those experienced with their unique capabilities showering them with praise, so much so that what was once considered a misguided experiment of the BR Standard range is now being revived in the form of a replica.

Also, you may have noticed that this time a few CGI renders of the BR Standard Class 6 have snuck into the mix. This is basically because I had an extreme lack of visual material to work with due to the rarity of these engines, and thus I chose to employ an image generator to create a few more scenarios for the Clans in service. It's not ideal, and I don't intend to do this very often if I can avoid it, but I think the resultant images were actually quite convincing in a lot of cases.
