Often forgotten in the world of West German carbuilders, the Borgward company was in fact, during its peak, the nation's second largest carmaker behind Volkswagen in terms of numbers of cars built and sold, the main appeal of this superb brand being its incredible mixture of style and innovation, as was the brainchild of the eponymous Carl Borgward, a longstanding name in the realm of Germany's car industry, though with such innovation came the price of reliability, and with customers demanding more for their money when it came to automotive robustness, one terrible blunder by the Borgward Group in this department led swiftly to the firm's tumble from grace.
