Psalm 81 – God Is Ready to Satisfy, If Only We’d Hear Him

Psalm 81 is a powerful mixture of celebration and warning.

It opens in joy: songs, trumpets, harps — a festival remembering deliverance from Egypt. God reminds His people that He lifted their burdens, answered their cries, and tested their hearts. But the tone turns: though He was willing to satisfy them with the finest wheat and honey from the rock, they would not listen.

“Oh, that My people would listen to Me…
I would soon subdue their enemies.”

This psalm is a divine lament — not over failure, but over refusal. It’s a cry of longing from a God eager to bless, but heartbroken by His people’s stubbornness.
