On November 29, 2020, 21‑year‑old Devin Matthew Weiland sparked an 8-hour armed standoff at the 🏢 Shady Oaks Apartments in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He made a fake 911 call 📞 claiming to hear gunshots—then opened fire from his third-floor window 🔫, unloading 75–90 rounds. A police officer was shot but saved by his vest 👮‍♂️🛡️, and two civilians were wounded 🚑. SWAT, drones 🚁, and a sniper 🔭 were deployed. He surrendered at 10:48 a.m. after intense negotiations.
