For our sake He made Christ to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God in right relationship with Him, by His goodness
~ Corinthians 5:21

This verse describes how God sent his son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of humanity. Through Christ's sacrifice, people can be made right with God and become righteous. The death of Christ reconciled his enemies to God. People can be reconciled to God through personal repentance and faith in Christ's death. People can embrace their new identity in Christ and live in a way that is worthy of him.
