Stephen Colbert: You're not running for office right now. You're stepping away from that life at the moment. Who leads the Democratic Party? I'm just curious.

Kamala Harris: There are many leaders. And, generally, there's one leader of the Democratic Party, you know, like: "Oh, that's the person who leads the party."

Stephen Colbert: Who comes to mind?

Kamala Harris: I think there are many... I'm not going to name names because then I'll forget someone and people will come after me for it.

But let me say this: I think it's a mistake, for those of us who want to understand how to get through this and move forward, to place that responsibility on the shoulders of just one person. It really falls on all of us. It truly does.

The Democratic Party is facing a deep leadership crisis following Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race. The situation has become so uncertain that not even Kamala Harris, who was a presidential candidate, can clearly identify who is leading the party. In a recent interview, Harris avoided naming anyone, suggesting instead that there are “many leaders” and that it would be a mistake to place the responsibility on a single person. This ambiguity reflects the absence of a central figure capable of firmly guiding the party at a critical moment, leading to internal confusion and weakening its cohesion.
