Georgia Sweet Tea, Volume One Cookbook Recipe
3 FAMILY SIZE TETLEY TEA BAGS
WATER
1 1/3 CUP GRANULATED SUGAR PLUS
2 TBSP. GRANULATED SUGAR
PLAIN OLD CLEAN MILK JUG
FOR LOWER SUGAR USE 2/3 CUP SUGAR
In a medium saucepan add water until it is half full. Add
tea bags and put on stovetop. Bring to a boil on
medium/high heat. Boil tea for 3-4 minutes.Turn off and
take off heat source. Let it set on stove for 15 minutes.
My favorite thing to use is a gallon jug to make my tea in. Like a milk jug. Take clean jug and put it in sink. Use a funnel and add sugar to jug.DO NOT add boiling water to
a plastic jug! Make sure it has cooled at least 15 minutes,
but it should still be warm. Pour boiled tea through funnel
into jug over sugar. Add water to top minus 1 1/2 inch. Place lid on jug. Turn jug upside down and shake very well
until all sugar is melted.
Put in refrigerator overnight. Do not serve until the next
day. If you need to serve it quickly the best, thing to do is
put it in freezer for 4 hours. Do not forget about it!
“The tea will not be sweet the day you make it, but after
being chilled it is perfect the next day! Enjoy in a glass of
ice! I make a couple gallons a week!” -Tammy
