Marvel Rivals Recording Chat in New Update to Screen for “Toxic” Behavior Online

Marvel Rivals will be recording voice chat in the new season 3.5 update in order to combat what NetEase Games considers toxic behavior online.

This means that anytime people are using the in-game voice chat, it will be recorded. This enables someone at NetEase to personally verify what was said during a game in the event the player was reported. If the company finds something is said that violates the terms of the game they may face repercussions including a ban. The fact NetEase is looking to stifle free speech is nothing new since it was previously reported they banned certain chat terms that are objectionable to the Chinese Communist Party. Many gamers see this as another step towards censoring free speech including pushing people to self-censor.
