Today we are in the Hebrew month of Av. In fact, it is the 9th day of AV.The 9th of Av is called Tisha B'Av, and it is a Jewish day of mourning and fasting.It was a day in Jewish history filled with disaster. But that history also had a role in world history.
On the 9th of Av of the year 2449 from creation (1312 BCE), the generation of Jews who came out of Egypt under Moses' leadership 16 months earlier were condemned to die in the desert and the entry into the Land of Israel was delayed for 40 years.
That was the date that the spies that Moses sent to the Land of Canaan (the promise land) returned with their report the people wept all night - the night of the 9th of Av.Both Temples were destroyed on the 9th of Av. Both Temples…656 years apart. 586 B.C. and 70 A.D.
