🎙️ Men's Emotional Maturity: Trauma & Development Explained

Episode #218 | DIOTALK Podcast

> **“So here you are—a 30-year-old man—but you're 6 inside.”**

I asked her if she thinks the real issue for many men isn’t just behavior, but *emotional maturity*—that we haven’t developed yet emotionally. She said, *“Yes. That’s exactly it.”* Because what people don’t realize is this:

Many men are stuck due to **arrested development**.

What that means is—if you experienced trauma as a child, you likely got **emotionally frozen** at that age. So maybe something traumatic happened when you were 6. Emotionally, you're still functioning from that place—even if your body and life moved on. You’re a 30-year-old man, but your emotional responses are still coming from a 6-year-old boy who never had a safe space to say:

> *“I'm hurt.”*
> *“Something happened.”*
> *“I need help.”*

So what happens? You learn to **operate from pain**. You never truly learned how to communicate. You’re speaking words, sure—but you’re not saying the **feelings** behind them.

> You say: *“I’m fine.”*
> But really? I hear *anger*, I hear *hurt*, I hear *something else*.

Instead of unpacking that pain, you stay **emotionally stuck**—and what’s worse, **most men don’t even know** that’s what’s happening.
