Archaeologists working near the ruins of Heraclea Sintica in southwestern Bulgaria made an extraordinary breakthrough—uncovering a vast ancient necropolis buried beneath four meters of earth. This city of the dead holds secrets spanning nearly a thousand years, from the Hellenistic period to Imperial Rome and even earlier Thracian cultures.

Join me as I explore the latest discoveries from the Western necropolis of Heraclea Sintica, including:

An undisturbed burial of a woman with gold earrings and bone hairpins

A rare Greek funerary stele dating back to the 3rd century BC

A marble family portrait relief with inscriptions

Terracotta figurines, cremation burials, coins, and a mysterious depiction of Hermaphroditus

Two bronze fibulae possibly linked to a pre-Macedonian Thracian settlement

And a newly uncovered grave with a glass cup and 16 bronze coins

Each find sheds light on the people, beliefs, and traditions of a long-lost world—resurrecting stories forgotten for millennia.
