If you are over 300 pounds you can still upgrade the rear shocks can improve ride quality of your sportster. Progressive shocks can help with the weight of solo or 2up riding. Improved rideability of Sportster 1200 is very doable. Much cheaper than upgrading to a newer tour model. There is still a lot of life in that Sporty more than likely, whether it is a 883 or a 1200. If you have a 883, you always go with a big bore kit to get the power up. Ride longer without the back trouble. Just do a sportster rear shock upgrade.
