Brown Sugar Shortbread

Ingredients:
•One cup butter, at room temperature
•1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar or maple sugar
•1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
•2 cups sifted, whole wheat pastry flour, or flour choice

Directions:
1. Hand mix all ingredients in a large bowl.

2.Pat down dough, forming even layer in a shortbread pan or pie pan. Pierce the surface decoratively with the times of a fork.

3. Bake in the upper third of the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes, or until the top is puffed and golden brown.
