Portal is about Growing Up And Letting Go

I just played Portal for the first time, and I wasn’t ready for what it became.

What starts as a clever, tightly-designed puzzle game slowly shifts into something more. Something lonelier, deeper, and honestly kind of profound. This video is part review, part retrospective, part overthinking, and all of it is from the perspective of someone coming to Portal fresh, with no nostalgia.

If you’ve ever thought about what Portal is really about... this video’s for you.

Chapters:
00:00 – Intro: Finally Playing Portal
00:36 – Physics, Portals, and Some Mild Whiplash
01:23 – Level Design That Respects You
02:01 – GLaDOS: The Heart of It All
03:44 – The Game Quietly Shifts
05:07 – Meaning Beneath the Surface
07:17 – Outro + Channel Plans
