Iron Deficiency in Children: What Happens When Levels Start to Improve

If your child has been diagnosed with low iron- you most likely have seen at least a few of the symptoms-and you’ll be anxious to help your child feel better.
If you’ve just started supplementing, some parents see small improvements in 2–4 weeks, but it can take 2–3 months (or more) to fully restore iron levels—especially if they were really low.
Best is to keep in communication with your pediatrician and be consistent with their recommended dosing schedule.
