The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) has undergone a significant transformation with the completion of a $28 million terminal renovation and expansion, marking its most substantial upgrade in over three decades. This ambitious project added 26,000 square feet to the terminal and renovated an additional 36,000 square feet of existing concourse space. The expansion includes the addition of two new gates, operated by Delta Air Lines, equipped with jet bridges to enhance passenger boarding experiences . The security checkpoint has been expanded to accommodate more passengers, featuring state-of-the-art CT scanners and a dedicated lane for TSA PreCheck travelers. Passenger amenities have been significantly improved, with the introduction of a full-service restaurant and bar, a new business center offering 10-gigabit Wi-Fi provided by EPB, and additional restrooms, including a nursing room and a pet relief area.

The expansion is part of the airport's broader 20-year master plan aimed at accommodating future growth and enhancing the passenger experience. Funding for the project was sourced from federal grants, airport funds, and passenger facility fees, ensuring no local tax dollars were utilized . The completion of this expansion is expected to bolster Chattanooga's economic development by attracting new airlines and routes, thereby increasing connectivity for both business and leisure travelers. With the addition of new gates and improved facilities, CHA is poised to serve as a more competitive and convenient travel hub in the region. This development underscores the city's commitment to infrastructure growth and its role as a key player in the southeastern United States' transportation network.
