In the video we see that the resin level is a little bit low. At some point the unit will need to be rebed. There is some growth that we can see above the resin bed (well the space above, above). This is why it is recommended to sanitize the system minimally once a year. I recommend the customer to a basic sanitation (~2oz) of unscented sodium hyperclorite (bleach or chlorine) 5.25%. Start an immediate regeneration or re-charge and pour dose directly down the brine well (the small tube inside the brine tank). 2oz per cuft of resin, that is inside of the unit being treated. Not to do too frequently as chlorine is harsh on plastic and rubber components (95%+) of the internals of modern softeners Y2K to today. There is also a chemical treatment specifically made for water conditioning units that is not highly oxidative. This is what I would recommend using as a routine treatment (6mos) then 6mos from there the technician can do a more thorough sanitation. Draw the chemical of choice into the mineral tank during regen/recharge. Then advance the valve through the rest of the phases of said process short enough to not rinse away and long enough to get the solution to contact the other nooks and crannies of the valve body.
