Jeanne Guyon started as a beautiful young girl to marry a young count. He became unloving and incredibly distant. Locked away in a dungeon made for her by husband.

She contracted a disease that disfigured her for life. Her husband couldn’t bear to look at her, so he divorced her. Now she was free to teach others her mode of contacting God.

I came across this little volume some 35 years ago. When I first read it I smacked myself on the forehead and wondered how I missed Christianity’s mystical incursion into the occult. Occult meaning covered truths, forgotten truths of spiritual enlightenment.

The way up is down. Looking into the interior of your being; this is where the Christ is located.

God is within. O children, God is not faraway. Begin a conversation with Him, he is your best friend.

In a most interesting development, to hear most people don’t have an ongoing internal dialogue. What do [tHey] think about. Maybe a better question could be, where is the question of their activities. Possibly that is why people blame others for their problems. There is no introspection.

The only arbiter we have is God’s mercy. If indeed he is closer than a brother, then we have no further to go than inwardly.

This little volume is the compendium to finding the Christ. The love expressed to the Christ figure is minuscule to the love received from the Christ who created the universes. The love there is; is far to big to fit within our thimble sized container.
