I’m on a mission to master the best sauces, dips, and spreads globally—and today, we’re tackling number 4 on the list: Mexican Guacamole. Honestly, I think it deserves to be even higher on the charts.
Personally, I like my guac chunky and keep it simple—no tomatoes this time (though you can totally add them if you’re a purist). For me, the real secret is temperature. Cold avocados = the best guac.
This creamy, zesty goodness is perfect with chips, slathered on sandwiches, or dolloped over grilled meats and veggies.
Ingredients:
3 large avocados (chilled)
1 large handful fresh cilantro (about 1/3 cup, finely chopped)
½ large red onion, finely diced
1 jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
2 garlic cloves, minced
Juice of 1 lime
½ tsp cumin
2 generous pinches of salt
How to Make It:
Chill ingredients – Place avocados and veggies in the fridge for at least 2 hours before starting.
Chop fresh flavors – Finely chop cilantro, dice the red onion and jalapeño, and mince garlic. Combine in a bowl.
Add avocados – Halve and pit avocados, scoop into the bowl.
Season & mash – Squeeze in lime juice, sprinkle cumin and salt, then mash to your preferred texture (chunky or smooth).
Serve – Enjoy immediately or chill for 1–2 hours for that refreshing, cold guacamole experience.
Pair with chips, pita, toast, or whatever crunchy snack you love. This is guac done right.
