Oliver came to live with us from the Newmarket OSPCA he was a captured stray believed to be approximately 2 years old at the time we adopted him. The Newmarket OSPCA had an interesting rating system on how they rate animals based on their personality traits to match to the correct family. Oliver was rated as a personal assistant. Their rating stated:
"You’re working on the computer? Let me press the keys.
Reading the paper? I’ll hold the pages down for you.
Watching TV? I’ll just plop in your lap so you can pet me.
I love an orderly household, don't you? I’ll help you with all your chores, and I’ll help you relax when we’re done. You'll wonder how you ever managed without me."
This description fits him like a glove. We looked at several cats that day and it was very hard to choose. At first we didn’t even see Oliver; we were visiting with his cell mate. Oliver was hiding in a cardboard box but when we were close to leaving he came out and he stole our hearts. We got him in 2011 and he has been cuddling and purring excessively ever since.
He is an indoor cat, but weekly gets to go outside on the front porch for a feline pedicure (for our benefit). He is very territorial and does not appreciate neighbors coming to visit…..Black and orange cat. Death rolls, panting and howls are common. And there definitely should be a sign at this point…do not try and pick me up or you will be scared for your life.
He is believed to be a Norwegian Forest Cat. He can never get warm enough always looking for something warm, whether it be in front of a window with the sun coming in, nested under the covers in one of the beds, on a heat register or on a lap.
He is an only child and very high maintenance as far as affection goes. But we wouldn’t trade him!
