The X-Rhombic

This video shows my new X-Rhombic antenna. It provides strong gain into Europe. A traditional Rhombic is a diamond shaped antenna where you essentially have two V-beams pointing at each other. This older design has many drawbacks. The X-Rhombic has two V-Beams pointing away from each other. Unlike a traditional Rhombic, you get a symmetrical pattern with equal gain in two opposing directions and if you add "spokes" with a switching system, you can electronically rotate it.

Unfortunately adding additional wires when you are tree supported is not practical. So for the time being, my transmission pattern points at 35 and 215 degrees. Areas of the globe within the beam width in those directions come in like gangbusters - other areas, not so much!
