- Arthur Velasquez Makes a Scene During Court Appearance for a Stabbing • SENTENCES

BRUNSWICK, Ohio - The man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend inside a Dollar General while she was working, had a competency hearing in Medina County Court of Common Pleas Friday.

Arthur Velasquez was indicted on the charges of attempted murder and aggravated burglary.

When Velasquez walked into court, he immediately started yelling and swearing and admitted he did stab the victim.

Judge William Hutson ordered Velasquez to undergo an evaluation and they will re-evaluate him in several weeks.When officers arrived at the store, they said they were able to quickly identify Velasquez, 56, of Burton, as their suspect and broadcast a description of him and his vehicle.

While officers were searching for him, police said Velasquez contacted law enforcement and told them he wanted to surrender.
