📖 Summary of Exodus 13:

In Exodus 13, God commands the Israelites to consecrate every firstborn male, both human and animal, as a remembrance of their deliverance from Egypt. Moses instructs the people to commemorate their departure with the Feast of Unleavened Bread each year. God does not lead them through the shortest route (through Philistine territory), but instead through the wilderness toward the Red Sea, to avoid war and fear. They carry Joseph’s bones, fulfilling his dying wish. The Lord guides them visibly—by day in a pillar of cloud and by night in a pillar of fire—never leaving their side.
