RetroInspection - Zorro - pt. 6

In a merging of legend, novel and film, Zorro returned to the silver screen in 1998 with The Mask of Zorro.
Starring Antonio Banderas as both Alejandro Murietta and Zorro, Anthony Hopkins as Don Diego de la Vega and Catherine Zeta Jones as Elena de la Vega, the film had a troubled beginning with several notable filmmakers doing their best to bring the fox back to film. Sony and director Martin Campbell finally succeeded.
Opening to mostly favorable reviews, the film did a brisk business at the box office which led to a sequel of much lesser quality.
However, this film deserves a watch for Zorro fans and those willing to become one!
