Iranian Hypersonic Missile Attack Quick Look 02
Iranian engineer here. The plasma sheath on the Fattah missile is actually an advantage. It makes the missile visible to radar, not invisible. Based on our estimates, the radar cross section before reentry is under 0.5 square meters, and even lower in space, around 0.01. But once the missile enters the atmosphere, two scenarios apply.

If it is Fattah 1, it follows a steep ballistic path. Entering at around 50 kilometers altitude at Mach 15, radar systems, especially L band, have only about 12 seconds to react. In this phase, the plasma sheath increases the apparent size of the missile. The radar sees the plasma as part of the missile body and assumes the warhead is 10 to 15 meters tall. As a result, automatic fire control systems begin launching interceptors. Each radar update triggers new calculations, and the slight tracking delay causes the system to keep firing. In one documented case, 12 interceptors were launched, and Fattah still hit its target with perfect accuracy. (The video is on YouTube)

If it is Fattah 2, the glide phase version, it remains inside the atmosphere for 15 to 30 seconds. During this time, it continuously adjusts its flight path, further confusing radar tracking. The system keeps launching more interceptors because it cannot predict the trajectory. Even more missiles are wasted. The purpose of Fattah is not to destroy. That role belongs to Emad. The Emad 2 is faster and carries a warhead nearly twice as heavy, so imagine the level of destruction. Khorramshahr is also much more powerful. Fattah is designed to exhaust missile defense systems. A 200,000 dollar missile can force the enemy to fire 40 to 50 million dollars worth of interceptors.

This war was not our real capability. It was meant to observe how their air defense works and how their radar systems are positioned. The real war will begin when it becomes necessary to target American bases, naval forces, and especially the radar station in Turkey, the Kürecik Radar Station. This twelve day war was triggered by Israel, not to defeat Iran, but to bait it into reacting in a way that forces the United States to step in. Based on current analysis, the real war may begin in less than two weeks.

And if Iran really wanted to damage Israel, just remember this. They have only two major harbors and maybe seven or eight desalination plants. It is not that hard to hit.
