Gameplay Part 4

Dying Light is a 2015 survival horror video game developed by Techland and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game's story follows undercover agent Kyle Crane who is sent to infiltrate a quarantine zone in a fictional Middle Eastern city called Harran. It features an enemy-infested, open world city with a dynamic day–night cycle, in which zombies are slow and clumsy during daytime and extremely aggressive at night. The gameplay is focused on weapons-based combat and parkour, allowing players to choose fight or flight when presented with dangers.

In this playthrough we cover:

Mission 07: The Saviors:
Crane ventures into the decaying Slums, hunting for Jade and tracking rumors of a group called the Saviors—smugglers led by Cenk who once helped refugees escape to Old Town. Crane gains passage by revealing he severed Rais’s hand, then follows Cenk and Hazan into a flooded maze of sewers, evading virals and navigating broken catwalks under dim-lit tunnels. When the smugglers betray him under Rais’s orders, Crane is ambushed in a water-filled trench but survives by diving underwater and counterattacking the armed thugs. Climbing through rising platforms and waterlogged shafts, he emerges into a rooftop courtyard where Rais's goons await—with well-timed headshots and parkour Crane fights through the assault to reach Old Town, also known as Sector 0.

Mission 08: Higher Education:
Crane heads to Harran University in Old Town after receiving instructions from Troy, who warns of a Ministry plot to firebomb the city. Inside, he searches for Jade Aldemir, speaks with Fidan, and discovers a photo and note implying Jade's disappearance (“Not again”). With no Jade found, Crane returns to the safe zone and views a government news broadcast claiming the epidemic is under control—confirming the Ministry’s deception.

Mission 09: Public Face:
Crane navigates the streets of Old Town to meet Michael in the sewers and assist the Embers in sending a distress signal to the outside world. Crane is tasked with planting explosives in four apartments across the 10th and 13th floors of a skyscraper, each rigged to gas stoves to create a visible pattern when detonated. Along the way, he encounters various infected, including bombers and screamers, requiring careful navigation and combat. After setting all charges, Crane detonates them, resulting in a fiery display visible from outside the quarantine zone, signaling that survivors remain in Harran. Turns out the Ministry isn’t too keen on word getting out that people are alive, so they blow up the tower explosion with a bomber jet.

Mission 10: Rendezvous:
After blowing up the building failed, it’s time to meet Jade and rig a radio tower. Crane goes to the building where Jade is supposed to be. Upon arrival, he discovers she has been kidnapped and taken to Rais’ fortress in Sector 0, a museum. Troy mentions that the former curator may know a back way in. Time to go find him.
