Ortiz-MacMalley Electric GETTING STARTED WITH EXCEL GETTING STARTED • Open the file NP_EX19_EOM1-2_FirstLastName_1.xlsx, available for download from the SAM website. • Save the file as NP_EX19_EOM1-2_FirstL astName_2.xlsx by changing the “1” to a “2”. o If you do not see the .xlsx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically. • With the file NP_EX19_EOM1-2_FirstLastName_2.xlsx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in cell B6 of the Documentation sheet. o If cell B6 does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website. PROJECT STEPS 1. Verdie Hansen is a student in an electrician training program. As part of her internship with Ortiz-MacMalley Electric, she uses Excel to update price estimates for projects that the company is bidding on. Begin on the Val Verde worksheet by inserting a new column to the left of column C, and selecting the format same as right column button from the Insert Column options menu. Then change the width of the new column to 2.25. 2. Cut the contents of the range A16:B19 and paste them into the range A12:B15. 3. Adjust the width of column B to 14.00. 4. Adjust the height of row 1 to 24.00. 5. Select cells A4 and D4, then change the font size to 12 point. 6. Enter the values shown in Table 1 into the corresponding cells in the range F6:G9. In cell H10, create a formula to total the cost of labor for the current estimate by using the AutoSum button to sum the values in the range H6:H9. 9. In cell B14, enter a formula that first adds the values of cells B12 and B13, and then multiplies the result by 0.15. 13. In cell B15, create a formula using the SUM function to determine the total bid by adding the values in the range B12:B14. 14. Add a default border to all sides of cell B15. 15. The next bid you expect to receive estimates on is for a company called TechHive. To set up the worksheet for this bid, create a copy of the Val Verde worksheet within the current document, then rename the new worksheet TechHive, and if necessary move it after the Val Verde worksheet. 16. On the TechHive worksheet, update the customer name in cell A1 to TechHive. Then select the range A6:G9, and clear the contents of the selection. Your workbook should look like the Final Figures on the following pages. Save your changes, close the workbook, and then exit Excel. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
