Surviving 10 Hours on Vietnam’s Worst Bus | Traveling During Tet Holiday 🇻🇳

In this video, we take you on a grueling 10-hour bus ride from Vung Tau to Da Lat, Vietnam, during the busy Lunar New Year. Under normal conditions, this trip typically takes about 6 to 7 hours, but due to heavy holiday traffic, frequent stops, and road delays, our journey stretched much longer.

The route passes through Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu Province, then into Đồng Nai Province, before climbing into the Central Highlands region where Da Lat is located. Along the way, the bus made roughly 10 to 20 stops, picking up more passengers and packages, which significantly added to the travel time.

The bus had a 2.6-star rating when we filmed, now down to 2.5 stars, making it one of the lowest-rated buses in Vietnam. Many reviewers mention issues such as “constant delays,” “uncomfortable seats,” “frequent unscheduled stops,” and “poor customer service.” Some even describe the ride as a “nightmare” due to overcrowding and the driver’s disregard for schedules.

Despite a broken water bottle holder and rough edges, the seats were somewhat comfortable. We managed to enjoy a tasty home-cooked meal at a rest stop, which was a small relief during this long journey.

Traveling during Tet—the Vietnamese Lunar New Year—means dealing with inflated prices, crowded buses, and unpredictable schedules. This video gives a real look at what to expect on one of Vietnam’s worst bus rides during the busiest travel season.

If you’re planning to travel in Vietnam during Tet, this video shows you how to prepare for the unexpected.
