A conversation with Evan Ratliff, author of "The Mastermind", a biography of cypherpunk and criminal cartel boss Paul Le Roux.

Paul Le Roux is a cryptography expert, and developed E4M (Encryption for the Masses), one of the first free, open-source disk encryption programs, which was released in 1998.

Years later, as a crime boss, he orchestrated complex operations, and created sophisticated networks for his illicit enterprises.

He was arrested in 2012, and sentenced in 2020. Le Roux is currently serving a 25 year prison sentence.
