"Hunting LeRoux" by Elaine Shannon is a biography of Paul Le Roux, the twisted-genius entrepreneur and cold-blooded killer who brought revolutionary innovation to international crime, and the exclusive inside story of how the DEA’s elite, secretive 960 Group brought him down. In development as a major motion picture by Michael Mann, investigative journalist Elaine Shannon takes a deep dive into the shadowy world of Le Roux.

Paul Le Roux is a cryptography expert, and developed E4M (Encryption for the Masses), one of the first free, open-source disk encryption programs, which was released in 1998.

Years later, as a crime boss, he orchestrated complex operations, and created sophisticated networks for his illicit enterprises.

He was arrested in 2012, and sentenced in 2020. Le Roux is currently serving a 25 year prison sentence.
