My Exercise Stress Test After a Seizure: Health Update & Recovery Journey! ||

Hey everyone! I’m sharing my experience with an exercise stress test, the final step in my medical journey after a seizure in May caused by hyponatremia (low sodium levels, clocked at 121 mmol/L in the ER). My toddler Spencer was there, bringing his infectious joy to keep me calm!

In this video, you’ll see the test in action: electrodes were placed on my chest for an electrocardiogram (ECG) to monitor my heart. I walked on a treadmill as the cardiac scientist and doctor ramped up the speed and incline to push my heart rate. The doctor checked my blood pressure throughout to ensure all was good. They paid close attention to my QT interval—the time it takes for my heart’s ventricles to reset after each beat. A slightly prolonged QT interval (noted after my seizure in the emergency department) can signal a risk of irregular heart rhythms, but I’m thrilled to say my results were normal!

With my EEG and heart CT scan also clear, I’m relieved to wrap up these tests. Now, I’m focused on keeping my sodium levels in check to prevent another seizure. Thanks for watching my journey—big thanks to my little Spencer for being my sunshine!
