Red Heifer Sacrifice! What really happened on July 8th?

The 10 red Heifer has been slaughtered on July 8 (www.israelnationalnews.com/news/411316), as a training exercise conducted by priesthood, as a simple training. BUT There are many Jews who believe in the atonement of all sins and in the coming of the Messiah after the sacrifice of the 10th heifer. No one knows if the one which was killed was a kosher. Only the ones who have seen her closely. So, it would be easy to use this, probably, perfect heifer as the Tenth to bring the Moshiach and eternal atonement, because it wouldn't be possible to do it in plain sight of everybody, including western and Christian media.
BUT Contrary to this some Israelite belief, This sacrifice is not a way of coming with terms with God.
Although in the written Torah it is clear the this practice is meant only to clean the priest upon someone had close contact to a dead man, there are many Jews, particularly Midrashic or Mystical, that believe the 10th (there were 9 others before) Red Heifer symbolize atonement for communal or historical sins (like the Golden Calf - the biggest of all).
But its main Halachic function is purification from corpse impurity, not direct forgiveness of personal sins. Sin offerings like the Chattat (sin offering) and Asham (guilt offering) are the sacrifices more explicitly tied to sin forgiveness in Levitical law.
So, the red heifer sacrifice, supervised by Eleazar, was to purify from ritual impurity caused by death, not to atone for moral sin.
Even if the slaughter of this heifer is not a sacrifice, it will be necessary for sacrifices to be made. But Sacrifices and offerings without true repentance are not what pleases God.
