On July 24, 2025, Charelle Dale, 31, was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm after allegedly shooting Jesse Grant, a father of three, in the leg outside a Seattle Safeway. The incident stemmed from a dispute over discarded chicken bones from Safeway’s “Monday Cheap Chicken” deal. Grant and a coworker were eating in a parked car when Dale, parked nearby, accused them of throwing bones at her vehicle.According to the police report, Dale approached the men, attempting to slash their tires with scissors. When Grant attempted a citizen’s arrest, Dale allegedly shot him. A second woman, believed to be Dale’s girlfriend, arrived, and both fled on foot. Grant was hospitalized, concerned about his family’s well-being and medical expenses.Dale was arrested and is being held on $350,000 bail. She has a criminal history tied to multiple King County cases, including a Seattle armed robbery involving an elderly man’s $45,000 Rolex and a fraud case with stolen credit cards used at Bellevue Square Mall. In the fraud incident, Dale and her alleged accomplice, 28-year-old Deionte Hunter, were captured on surveillance video in April, making purchases at Nordstrom and The North Face.Prosecutors highlight Dale’s pattern of violent and fraudulent behavior. Hunter also faces felony charges for the Rolex robbery and identity theft. Grant, an Army veteran, is focused on recovering to support his three children and mother-in-law.
