St. Louis County, MO - St. Louis County police have released a critical incident briefing for an officer-involved shooting that happened in May.

On May 26, a man armed with a knife was shot by a Hazelwood police officer in the 1300 block of Eagles Way Court.

Body camera video released on Thursday shows the officer arriving to the home and approaching a man leaving with a bag. The man tells the officer that he was hit with a gun. A man is then seen exiting a home holding something.

After seeing the man with an object in his hand, the officer points his weapon.

“Drop the [expletive] gun,” the officer is heard saying.

The man then appears to move the item from his hip to his chest area. The officer then fires two shots.

After being shot, the man tells the officer he did not have a gun, but was holding a knife.

Jeffery Thompson, Sr, 65, was later charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

Investigators said that a semi-automatic pistol was found inside of the home after the shooting. Officers also found a large knife that they said he was holding when the shooting occurred.
