Tulsi Gabbard: There is irrefutable evidence detailing how President Obama and his national security team directed the creation of an intelligence assessment they knew was false. They knew it would promote the fabricated narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump win, selling it to the American people as if it were true.

It wasn’t. The report we released today shows in great detail how they carried this out. They manufactured findings from weak sources. They suppressed credible evidence and intelligence that disproved their false claims. They disregarded traditional practices and intelligence community standards and hid the truth from the American people.

In doing so, they conspired to subvert the will of the American people who elected Donald Trump in the November 2016 election. They worked with their allies in the media to promote this lie—ultimately to undermine President Trump’s legitimacy and launch what would become a prolonged coup against him and his administration.

Tulsi Gabbard, the current Director of National Intelligence of the United States, has declassified a series of documents that reveal a "treasonous conspiracy" allegedly orchestrated by President Barack Obama and his national security team. According to Gabbard, this conspiracy involved the deliberate fabrication of an intelligence assessment in January 2017, intended to support the narrative that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win. Gabbard claims that those responsible knew from the start that the assessment was false.

According to the documents, Obama’s team relied on unreliable sources, such as the Steele dossier, and suppressed credible evidence that contradicted their claims. They allegedly disregarded traditional intelligence community practices and worked with media allies to spread the narrative as if it were true. Gabbard asserts that the ultimate goal was to subvert the will of the American people and undermine Trump’s legitimacy, launching what she describes as a prolonged coup attempt against his administration.

In response, President Donald Trump called the revelations “the crime of the century” and has demanded legal consequences. Gabbard has submitted the findings to the Department of Justice, calling for a criminal investigation into Obama, John Brennan, James Comey, James Clapper, and other senior officials, arguing they may have committed serious crimes with no statute of limitations.

However, Democratic lawmakers and various media outlets have questioned Gabbard’s claims. They point out that bipartisan congressional reports and the Mueller report concluded that Russia did interfere in the 2016 election, though without altering the outcome. Critics also warn that Gabbard may be misrepresenting the documents by conflating interference with direct vote manipulation, and argue that her accusations fuel conspiracy theories lacking sufficient evidence. The controversy continues to escalate as debates arise over whether this new report will lead to criminal charges against those involved.
