After Sicily, Sardinia (also known as Sardegna or Sardinien) is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean. Cagliari is Sardinia's capital and biggest city. There are 1.6 million people living on the island. The Cape of Goloritzé, the Strait of Bonifacio, the Greek-Roman Town of Tharros, the Nuvixeddu Necropolis, the Roman thermae of Forum Traiani, the ancient temple of Monte d'Accoddi, the Monte Corru Tundu Menhir, Nuraghe Losa, the Giants' grave in Dorgali, the Santa Sabina Byzantine church, the Torre della Pelosa, and the Basilica of San Gavino in Porto Torres are some of the island's highlights.
